Understanding Russia is more important now than it has been for decades. This comprehension requires access to reliable information about events inside the country and sound analysis about the repercussions at home and abroad.
What we do
Independent journalism is precious but fragile. When autocrats and despots destroy or manipulate the news media, they immediately paralyze an array of democratic institutions. Free elections, the freedom of expression, an active civil society — these things simply cannot function without independent publications. Tyrants target journalists because they know their power becomes unlimited without a free press. Stichting Editors Choice works to support independent Russian-speaking journalists both inside Russia and in exile who report on important social issues. The Foundation’s objectives:
- To establish, acquire, and develop both an advanced management and publishing system in the Russian language and multiple related IT products that will collect and distribute journalistic content.
- To organize educational opportunities for journalists and other media professionals, such as lectures, seminars, and conferences.
- To provide media expertise and advice.
- To publish content in the fields of journalism and education and to perform everything related or conducive to the above.
- The foundation does not aim to make a profit.
